Title European Claims Manager

What is the plan for the European Claims Manager role?

Manage the Claims function and handling all insurance and reinsurance claims for the European business. This will include the development of appropriate and consistent policies and procedures to ensure the function operates effectively in a manner that is proportionate to the needs of the business and in line with the business, and Groups overall business strategy.

What will you do as a European Claims Manager?

Responsible for overseeing claims for all European business
Responsible for strategy, policy and procedures in relation to claims handling
Create and maintain effective claims reporting for Senior Management colleagues;
Understand and anticipate internal and external customer needs and align the claims division to deliver against those requirements;
Liaise with product level claims managers across the European business to ensure uniformity of claims handling and monitoring where appropriate;
Provide legal and claims advice on product & form development in support of underwriting teams;
Provide underwriters and management with appropriate claims information;
Liaise with the Finance, Underwriting and Actuarial departments regarding enquiries for information;
Provide technical and reserving guidance to claims teams;
Handle major claims falling outside delegated authority limits, across AICEL operations;
Develop appropriate procedures, management information and controls to improve workflows and ensure that performance standards are met;
Establish supplier networks and monitor their performance to ensure cost and performance objectives are achieved;
Maintain an audit programme to ensure files and reserves are regularly reviewed;
Ensure that staff are fully trained, appropriate authority levels are in place, and succession plans are developed for key staff;
Maintain knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment, best practices and changes and trends across Europe, United Kingdom and Gibraltar ensuring that international representation for all claims complies with EU and United Kingdom legislation;

What do you know that makes you a great European Claims Manager?

Solid claims handling experience in a senior role.
ACII or in the process of completing ACII
In depth knowledge of all general insurance products.
In depth knowledge of legal and regulatory backgrounds in Gibraltar and Malta.
Numerate, with ability to interpret data and extrapolate results.
Good market awareness and contacts to identify trends / competitor philosophies etc.

Salary 70k based on experience with benefits and relocation package.
